Wartena Hoeve is a former dairy farm. Is was quite a project to turn this 150-year-old building into a contemporary farmhouse with guest rooms!
It was inevitable that practically the entire farm was demolished. However, the façade and the original wooden beams, with old inscriptions, were preserved. The bricks have also been reused after they were cleaned.
After the demolition, about 80 pieces of 4-metre deep concrete piles were drilled into the ground. After the concrete ground floor had been made, a steel structure was installed to replace the wooden support structure.
The whole renovation was a huge project but after some time the transformation became visible: a beautifully renovated farmhouse! Modern comfort in a characteristic form. We are so glad about our cooperation with almost exclusively Frisian craftsmen! Thanks to their skills and knowledge of traditional architectural styles, we’re happy with and proud of the result!
